Yes, MacPhail does have a wine club. We like to think of it as a society of like-minded Pinot Noir fans (who like Chardonnay too). Confirmed access to MacPhail wines, including the Mardikian Estate Pinot Noir, pretty much fills our wine wagon, but there’s much more to your membership.

Russian River Valley
This is classic Green Valley, fragrant and begging for attention. The small, 8.6 acre vineyard is just northwest of Sundawg Ridge, sloping gently east to west with well drained Goldridge sandy loam soil, benefitting from the spring-fed lake that inspired the vineyard name.
The Lakeview vineyard was re-imagined a few years ago, with new clones introduced. The impact is now clear. This wine provides the simple answer to why people fall in love with Pinot Noir. It doesn’t require much thought or evaluation, it’s in your face fun, the kind of wine that inspires devotion. There’s an aromatic explosion of bright red candied fruit and sweet oak, even though the oak has been dialed back a bit from previous vintages. Soft and luscious, with plush tannins and a hint of earthiness, it’s the kind of wine called ‘pretty’. Well structured, simply put, a thing of beauty.
~ 95 Points, 4 1/2 Stars / “The Russian River Valley has certainly become one of the greatest Pinot Noir appellations on the planet and this gorgeous wine is proof positive. MacPhail offers pure hedonistic pleasure as it just flows over you with each sip. It’s an utterly charming Pinot Noir. Just eight barrels produced.” – Sean Ludford, BevX.com
~93 Points, “Extraordinary” / “Moderately dark reddish purple color in the glass. A complex nose offers aromas of black cherry, black raspberry, spices including oregano and vanilla and pipe smoke. Mid weight plus flavors echo the nose fruits with a gentle nod of oak. The dreamy texture satisfies and the spiced blueberry finish elevates the experience.” – Rusty Gaffney, PinotFile
~90 Points, “Very Highly Recommended” / “Medium ruby; forward, toasty, black cherry fruit aroma with hints of clove and cocoa; medium to medium-full body; supple, plummy, earthy, red fruit flavors with herbal notes and undertones of sweet oak; medium to medium-full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Deserving a few more years of bottle aging.” – Nicholas Ponomareff, California Grapevine
~90 Points / “Lively, lightly chewy and fresh with notes of cherry cobbler, seared duck breast and vanilla bean.” – Catherine Fallis MS, The Planet Grape Wine Review
Light to medium bodied and brickish in color, a bit earthy in aroma but providing a real contrast in the mouth, where the wine is pretty, with elegant, soft tannins. Aromas of fresh red berries stand alongside clove, violets and rose petal. In the glass, bright red fruits led by raspberry coulis, candied cherry and cola. In all this, there are hints of sour cherry as well. This is a vineyard I’ve put a bit of heart and soul into, something new to consider. We trust you’ll like it as much as we do.
